When you're unsure about a card during an appraisal, or a quote includes high-value cards, bring in another member. Research is for getting a card's market price checked; a review is for getting a quote checked. Both are under **Buying** in the sidebar.

## Research

Research lets the person appraising ask a researcher to find a card's market price. Use it for cards with too few sales to give a market price, or cards that can't be matched in the card catalog.

### Request research

1. **Start the request**

Click **Request market research** on the card's row in the appraisal items.
For a card that hasn't been identified, it reads **Request card and price
    research**.

2. **Describe the request**

Check **Reason and details** and add to it if needed. To pick who handles
it, choose under **Researcher (optional)**. If you don't, any available
    researcher can take it.

3. **Send the request**

    Click **Request research**.

To ask about several cards at once, use **Request market research in bulk**. While an answer is pending, you can't request a review of that quote or present it.

### Answer research

Researchers see requests under **Research** in the sidebar. Unanswered requests are on the **Awaiting** tab, and can be filtered by **Assigned to me** or **Unassigned**.

1. **Check the price history**

Opening a request shows the card's photos, the customer's notes and **Price
history**. Click **Use this price** on a useful record to fill in the price
    and its source.

2. **Send the result**

Enter the **Market price (per card)** and, if needed, a **Note (optional,
add reference URLs here)**. Click **Send result**.

The price you send goes straight into the appraisal's reference price. The requester sees a **Research result** in their To do.

For a card that can't be identified, you can choose **Not in card master** under **Answer type**. Enter the card name and card number and send it to ask Toreca Cloud to add the card. Once it's added, the requester uses **Use added card and research again** to redo the research.

To withdraw a request, the requester chooses **Withdraw request**. If a researcher can't take it, they choose **Decline and unassign**.

## Reviews

A review is a check by a member other than the appraiser before the quote goes to the customer. It's required for quotes that include a card appraised at or above the **Review threshold**. Set the threshold in [Buy rates](/en/guides/settings/pricing).

### Request a review

Save every appraisal amount, then click **Request review** below the items. Once requested, the quote's contents are locked. If you edit and save it, request the review again.

### Do a review

Review requests appear in To do and under **Reviews** in the sidebar.

1. **Open the quote**

Click **Review** in the list. Check the contents on the **Appraisal items**
    and **Quote PDF** tabs.

2. **Approve**

If it looks right, click **Approve** and confirm with **Approve quote**. To
fix buy rates before approving, change them in the items and click **Approve
    with changes**.

Once approved, the quote can be presented.

:::note
The person who made the appraisal can't approve its quote. Choosing **Skip review** lets the quote be presented without a review. The name of whoever skipped it is recorded.
