A work role is the scope of work you hand to the agent. You pick it on the approval screen each time you connect, and the agent only sees that role's operations.

| Work role                 | What it can do                                                                                                                                               |

| View only                 | Look at stock, sites, receipts and the catalog. Can't move stock.                                                                                            |
| Stock mover               | Find stock and move it between shelves and sites (ship, receive, send back). No receipts, corrections, customers or payments.                                |
| Inventory manager         | Moves plus receipts and voids, quantity and card corrections, shipping out and losses, market prices, and sites, shelves and tags. No customers or payments. |
| Shop manager (everything) | Every operation, including viewing and changing customers, purchases, payments, members and settings. Choose it only when the task needs it.                 |

## Roles and member permissions

A work role only narrows what the agent sees; it never widens a member's permissions. A member who can't approve payouts can't approve them over MCP either, even with Shop manager.

## Connection lifetime

Each connection ends 12 hours after approval. After that, the agent's calls fail authentication. Reconnect from your app and pick the role that fits that day's work.

The limit keeps a wide role from staying connected longer than needed.

## Review connections

Settings › MCP lists connected apps with their permissions and last access. If you see a connection you don't recognise, contact your shop's admin.
